The decision was taken after over 100 students, led by Senate member Manmohan Bajpai and different student organizations, met the vice chancellor SP Kane demanding immediate steps to resolve the problems.

Surprisingly, director of examinations and evaluation Niraj Khaty is yet to personally inspect the college despite being instructed by the administration. Khaty, who is mostly away from exam section, has been neglecting students’ problems since he is busy with his upcoming interview for LIT professor position, officials said.

In their complaint, the students said they were harassed by the students at the college, which is their centre for the summer exam, the premises lack basic facilities like separate toilets for girls and boys, no drinking water among other problems.

Since March 24, TOI has been reporting about problems at the exam centre and the NU administration’s inaction against the errant college. Initially, VC Kane and Khaty had given clean chit to the college after the first panel “found the exam centre in compliance with norms.”

In its first report, TOI had exposed how over 1,000 students were made to sit on the floor at the college. Later, it came to fore that students from different courses were given unreadable question papers.

In its only “substantial action”, the NU has only lessened 100 students per batch for the exam centre where 400 were allotted in one batch.

Also, Kane and Khaty are yet to initiate any action against the college regarding mass copying complaint submitted along with a video. On March 2, a complaint was again submitted to the NU regarding mass copying and deficiencies at the college which too has been brushed aside. Kane and Khaty didn’t answer to TOI’s calls and SMS.

NSUI and NSC representatives alleged that the college was approved as exam section in collusion with top exam section officials. “Hefty amount was accepted by a top exam section officer to make Wagh College exam centre. This was the reason the inquiry panel didn’t find any problem at the incomplete building assigned as exam centre. The exam director is deliberately ignoring complaints,” they said.
